Ohhh nooo, say it isn't so ....

....we've had our first snow but thankfully it didn't stick around. I don't know, there is just something wrong with snow that comes and stays before Halloween. I will keep my fingers crossed for the next week.  I have been busy, busy, making the projects for October Fest and for Beading Babes, such fun,  I can't wait for reveal days; but in the meantime I have learned a new skill (for me at least) and that is "bead crochet". I am quite proud of myself for mastering this technique,  and even though I am only in the beginning phase I enjoy it so much I can see more designs just waiting to happen.  The crocheted rope is so flexible, works up fast and feels really good to wear.

Olathe, means beautiful in Native American and I think a very appropriate name for this piece. I used size 8 seed beads in my favorite colors  to make the rope then added a slider bead (made using tubular peyote) in the same colors with just a hint of silver. Love, love, love it.

  1. I love your bead crochet necklace! I love bead crochet too. Unfortunately, I don't do as much of it as I would like. You're right, it's very flexible and I love the drape.

  3. What a beautiful necklace! I love the colors you used.

I've been wanting to try bead crochet. I love how it doesn't look crocheted at all! It looks almost woven.
