1st reveal complete and now on to ...

The 2nd Reveal day for the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party has arrived and I am so excited although a little intimidated.  After hopping through all the party goers on the first reveal, I was completely and utterly blown away by the craftsmanship, the artistry and the creativity of each and every one.  Lori has done an amazing job yet again, this time more amazing than ever because not only were there over 500 participants worldwide but she hasn’t been feeling well and she is in all three reveals. Lori you are incredible, thank you for hosting this really really really really fun party!

My partner this time around (being my second BSBP I feel seasoned) is the amazing Amy Severino. I think it must have been the bead fairies at work because just before Lori announced who was partners with who, I had commented on facebook to Amy that it would be neat if we were partnered and wow a few days later we found out we were. I had participated in Amy’s Spring Challenge and enjoyed the experience so much, that I have signed up for her next Spring Fling Challenge (reveal date April 20).  I realized we were kindred spirits and was totally thrilled we were paired together for the BSBP.  Please visit Amy’s blog and she what she has created with the soup I sent her.

The Soup I sent to Amy
Amy sent me a wonderful soup, very challenging, oh I do love a challenge!  Here is the soup Amy sent me.  I really wanted to use as much as possible if not all the soup sent and yeah I did.
The Soup Amy sent me
So here is what I made; first up "Dragon in the Garden".  Amy included in her soup a beautiful clay focal. It so reminded me of the garden and that made me think...what's in a garden but dragon flies.....I used the clay focal, an antique brass dragon fly, some carved bone flowers, some of the pearls, some of the seed beads and a crystal or two. The necklace begged for matching earrings and a bracelet.

Next up "Turkish Delight"
The agate beads Amy sent where the inspiration for this, but as I started beading the agates didn't fit. They were still used, just not in the necklace. I used a jasper focal, a rivoli, cube beads, magatamas, more of the crystal's, more of the seed beads and the clasp although I did put a patina finish to the clasp to reduce the brightness.

Turkish Delight
I have received many compliments on this and the earrings I made to match.
Oh and not to forget the agate beads, a simple but beautiful bracelet.

So I still had a small amount of seed beads and a few crystals and the pale green silk ribbon. I don't normally work with silk ribbons but I have started to incorporate it more and more into my work. I took my little remaining pile of beads, added a few and came up with this. I love it, it is so summer breeze!

So that is it, Amy I hope I did you proud, can't wait to see what you made.
Thank you Lori, you're the best.....this is the greatest party there is.

I have the Beading Babes Challenge reveal tomorrow so please come and see what I have done for that as well. Whew busy, super fun weekend!

...ah Sunday

..a day to rest, a day to post, a day to watch my favorite TV shows....just an all round good day. OK if you add in that it's the last day of the weekend (lately work has just s#@%ked) and laundry day...maybe not totally perfect, but pretty close. I love that the 2nd reveal was delayed a week....more anticipation, more excitement, plus it gives everyone a rest from the incredible hopping from the first reveal....I am now ready to go and can't wait until next weekend...it will be busy, I have two hops and it is my beautiful sisters birthday......hmmm what to do!

I have signed up for the "Hats Off ! Challenge" by the lovely Bobbie from Beadsong Jewelery. The ideas are just spinning, so much fun and it makes me want a hat so bad. Check out Bobbie's site to see some totally awesome inspirational hats and the challenge details.

I want to share my new most favorite necklace and earrings....I wore the set 3 times last week and that is a lot for me.  The colors are so deep and rich and compliment each other so well. This was one of those projects that accidentally happened but I am so glad it did. I have recieved tons of compliments and it just makes me feel pretty. Hope you love it too.

..and the party has started!!

I am working my way through the blogs of all those that are in the first reveal of the BSBP and I must say I am truly in awe.  The artistry is amazing, everyone has given such thought and creativity to their designs....can it get any better.  I am actually a little intimidated to post my creations in the second reveal. The judges are going to truly have a difficult task ahead of them. It is taking me some time to go through each blog because I have to spend time on each site and just drool. Thank you Lori for hosting this fantastic event....it is the best party ever.

My soup is done and will be revealed next weekend, can't wait!!

I have wanted to make something using tila beads for awhile so as I wait to reveal I worked on this little bracelet, it was quick and easy and I think it turned out rather pretty. Although it looks very blue in the photo it is actually more purple.

Until next weekend!!!!

..it is suppose to be spring...

Last week it snowed and then snowed some more and then more snow still.....30 cm in fact. OK enough is enough! I need spring!
One of the local beading stores that I frequent (all to often, I might add) (Crimpz Bead Boutique) has what is called the "Over the Top Gang" night. The store is opened one night a month to only those that have achieved that status (yes you guessed it - only those that have spent over the top). It is a fun night with wine and goodies and a project to make and select items on sale.  This past week we make a key chain using the licorice leather - very cute...great idea for a future stocking stuffer.
The key chain I made in my favorite colors!
I don't know what it was about the last issue of Bead and Button, but I made another project from it. Although I buy the magazine it is rare that I make a project, let alone 2 from the same magazine. I just couldn't resist and I love the finished project. The name so intrigued me I had to give it a try.

St. Pete Squared by Jane Danley Cruz

I liked it so much I made a matching bracelet.
